In Honor of Valentine's Day



I have to share something Jacob said to me in the car today. It made me laugh so hard! My little boy has a crush.

Jacob: "Mom, I have a crush on someone."

Me: "Oh yeah, who is it?"

Jacob: "A girl in my class"

Me: "Is it Carley?" (Name changed per Jacob's request)

Jacob: "Yeah. She's so pretty. Every time I look at her hearts pop out of my eyeballs."

I guess that's when you know you're in love!

Mikey, he doesn't like it

Yesterday morning I decided to get out the old rice cereal and see what Michael thought about table food. This was his first experience with eating cereal from a spoon. Kera really wanted to feed him, so I let her do it while I took the pictures. Now to Michael's credit he was pretty tired and ready for his morning nap, so he wasn't very happy to begin with. We'll try again when he's in a better mood.

Last weekend we had our friends Jeremy and Heidi Kjar over to watch the SuperBowl. Heidi has a little boy who is a month younger than Michael. We had a good time watching the two babies together. They aren't quite old enough to interact with each other, but we did catch a few shots of them holding hands. It was too cute. Of course Michael was trying to eat Wyatt's hand in the last shot. Heidi was really making them laugh too. In the first shot they were both laughing really hard. Future BFF's, right Heidi?

Farmington Storytelling Festival

On Saturday we took the kids to a storytelling festival in farmington. It was really fun. They had different rooms where you could go to hear the storytellers tell their stories. They also had a craft station where you could make your own book. They had some yummy Stephen's hot cocoa and cookies for refreshments. Even Michael got to hear some of the stories before he fell asleep. One of the storytellers was a guy from our ward who serves with Dave in the Sunday School Presidency, Karl Behling. That was fun to see someone we knew there. Kera was a little unsure of his outfit as you can see from the picture. You'd think she'd understand what a mountain man costume looks like since my dad is very into mountain man stuff and has his own buckskin outfit and racoon cap that he wears. I guess she hasn't seen him in it enough to be sure.

After the festival we went to lunch at Iggie's sports grill. Dave heard from some coworkers that the food wasn't that great, but we liked it a lot! They really cater to the kids there. All the kids get free drinks with free refills. We only got them one kids meal to share since Kera eats almost nothing, especially when there was yummy breadsticks there to eat. They also gave both kids HUGE sundaes after the meal. Of course Dave and I had to help them with theirs, but I was surprised, Jacob ate almost all of his by himself. We were joking that this was Jacob's favorite new place to eat because they give you endless rootbeer, hamburgers, and even a sunday for dessert. They also played one of his favorite songs. What more could a boy ask for? BTW the song he likes was the Red Hot Chili Peppers "Dani California" because it says all the states in it. He calls it the "State Song".

We had a fun family Saturday. Here's some pictures from the festival. I should have taken a picture of their huge sundaes. Maybe next time. And yes there will be a next time if Jacob has anything to say about it.

Family Birthdays

We celebrated Dave and Kera's birthdays this month. Dave's is first on the 7th, then Kera's is the next day on the 8th. This year Kera decided instead of having a friend party she wanted to go with our family to Classic Fun Center and go rollerskating. It was a lot of fun. Kera's loves to go out on the rink and skate. She still needs me there to hold her hand, but once she got going she was doing pretty well. For Dave's birthday we had a yummy chocolate cake and ordered chinese food for dinner. Then saturday we went to see Valkurie. I hope these two enjoyed their birthdays. We love you daddy and Kera!

My latest addiction

I know many of you have already discovered this and I'm now just figuring it out, but I love facebook!! I was surprised to see just how many people have facebook accounts. I didn't really know what facebook was until my sister, cousin and some friends were talking about it and said I needed to sign up. I thought it was like myspace, and that's really not for me (especially with all the negative stuff you hear about myspace and child predators not to mention all the teeny boppers who're obsessed with it) but facebook is not like that. I like that I can log on and see new updates and messages from people. It's so cool to get back in touch with people that you haven't heard from in years. You can also chat with them. Well I'm sure I don't have to tell most of you about this since you've been doing this for awhile, but for those that don't have facebook accounts, you should give it a try. It will amaze you how easy it is and you can see all the friends that everyone has on their friend list. It's great, but it is very addicting, especially at first when you're getting all your friends on your list and you get messages from all these people and every time you log on there's something new to see. I try to limit myself, but it seems like as soon as I log on I get sucked in and before I know it an hour has gone by! So here's to my latest addiction!! Christmas 2008

I know I'm a little late in getting these christmas pictures posted. We had a crazy past few weeks. Christmas this year was a lot of fun, except when our whole family got the stomach flu. Dave's parents drove here from Texas to spend christmas with us. We were all excited that they made the long drive out here to be with us for the holiday. Unfortunately soon after they got here Dave's mom got sick with the stomach flu, and luckily nobody else got sick until after christmas was over. Kera and I were sick the day after christmas, then Dave, Jacob and Michael were sick and throwing up the Sunday and Monday after christmas. Yes that's right, even our 3 mo. old Michael had the stomach bug and the poor little guy was puking like the rest of us. I've never had a child that young get the stomach flu, so it was a little scary. I was watching him every second and waiting for the next round to hit him.

We had a great holiday despite that. The kids both got spoiled from Santa. Jacob with a wii, and Kera with lots of Barbie stuff, including her most favorite, the Diamond Castle. She also got a toy dog that swims in the water. (It has become an essential bath toy now). We hope you all had a wonderful christmas as well. Happy 2009 to everyone!!
