Swimming party

A couple weeks ago our niece Cora had her 3rd birthday party at the South Jordan Rec Center. They had her birthday there last year also. The kids remembered the pool from last year and were excited to actually get to swim. (last year about 10 minutes after they got in the water a light broke in the pool and they had to close it down). So this time they swam for about an hour and were so excited to swim. We should take them to indoor pools more often. We usually only take them in the summer to swim.

This year Cora's birthday was a real milestone because as some of you know Cora was born with only her brain stem and as a result cannot walk eat on her own, crawl, or perform any voluntary functions. She has been hit really hard this winter with all the colds and viruses that have been going around. She was in the hospital on and off for about 3 weeks recently and even had to be on a ventilator. She's been doing better, but still hasn't fully shaken the illnesses. We keep her in our prayers and I know her sweet spirit has blessed my brother's family even through all the struggles and hardships of caring for someone in Cora's situation. We love you Cora!

I was so busy watching the kids swim and getting pictures of Michael's first experience in a pool that I forgot to get a picture of the birthday girl!! Here's one I pasted from pictures Chris had of her.

Kera's photo shoot

Kera took my camera the other day and wanted to take pictures of everything. This happens quite a lot in our family. My kids love taking pictures of things and I don't care too much because one, my camera is a piece of crap and if they broke it then I'd have to get a new one. Two, it's kind of fun seeing pictures from a kids point of view. And three, it's a digital camera so all I have to do is delete the pictures I don't want to keep. Here are some of the keepers that Kera took of herself and Michael. The ones of the two of them I took of course, but Kera took most of the others.

My poor neglected blog

Okay, so it's been over a month now since I've had any real posts on here. I don't really know what my problem is. I could say that it's because I've been busy and haven't had time, but really it doesn't take that long to make a post and explain what's been going on in my life in a short paragraph or two. Add some pictures and there you go. I keep looking at my computer and saying, I really need to update my blog. But I just haven't gotten around to it. I guess I've just been living life and haven't stopped to post about it. I do have a few pictures that I've taken recently of Michael that I'm gonna get on here. Kera actually took some of them, so that should be interesting. I WILL POST THEM TOMORROW. The all caps means I'm serious now, I have to post them.
So basically this is my post saying that I will post again soon. If anyone still checks this blog then you know to look back again soon so you can check out some new pics.
I also have to add here that I am so looking forward to spring and warmer weather. It's been such great weather here this week, most days have been in the 60's. I forgot how much I love this time of year, when the days get longer and the air is warmer and you no longer have to bundle up when you leave the house. I guess growing up in California I took that all year round good weather for granted, because these long winters just kill me! By now I'm sure everyone is more than ready to kiss the snow and the cold good bye. So yea for tomorrow, the first day of spring!!

I saw this on a friends blog. It cracked me up! I'll bet many of us have felt like that after pain medicine, but it's kinda sad for a little kid to go through since they have no idea what's happening to them!

In Honor of Valentine's Day

SmileyCentral.com

I have to share something Jacob said to me in the car today. It made me laugh so hard! My little boy has a crush.

Jacob: "Mom, I have a crush on someone."

Me: "Oh yeah, who is it?"

Jacob: "A girl in my class"

Me: "Is it Carley?" (Name changed per Jacob's request)

Jacob: "Yeah. She's so pretty. Every time I look at her hearts pop out of my eyeballs."
:)
I guess that's when you know you're in love!

Mikey, he doesn't like it

Yesterday morning I decided to get out the old rice cereal and see what Michael thought about table food. This was his first experience with eating cereal from a spoon. Kera really wanted to feed him, so I let her do it while I took the pictures. Now to Michael's credit he was pretty tired and ready for his morning nap, so he wasn't very happy to begin with. We'll try again when he's in a better mood.

Michael & Wyatt

Last weekend we had our friends Jeremy and Heidi Kjar over to watch the SuperBowl. Heidi has a little boy who is a month younger than Michael. We had a good time watching the two babies together. They aren't quite old enough to interact with each other, but we did catch a few shots of them holding hands. It was too cute. Of course Michael was trying to eat Wyatt's hand in the last shot. Heidi was really making them laugh too. In the first shot they were both laughing really hard. Future BFF's, right Heidi?
