Swimming Lessons

This week Jacob and Kera have started swimming lessons. They have 8 classes total, and they have completed 4 days. This is their first time being in swimming lessons, and my first time taking kids to swimming lessons. So far they have thoroughly enjoyed it. They love being in the water, and both of them have been adventurous in trying new things. Kera's biggest accomplishments have been blowing bubbles in the water and swimming on her own with a noodle or floatie. I also went and got them some lifejackets yesterday so they could go in the deep end, and possibly jump off the diving board. Kera will walk up there and think she wants to do it, then when she looks down she changes her mind and gets back off. Jacob's class is advanced beginner class, but the other kids in his class are all swimming (actually moving their arms and kicking their legs. Jacob tries that, then he panics and will stop kicking. He likes to float on his back, but we're still working on the swimming part. He's been really good with the bobs and blowing bubbles under water. I'm glad the kids are getting more comfortable with the water, and by the end, hopefully they'll be able to know some valuable swimming techniques and I can feel more comfortable with them swimming in the water. Oh yeah, the instructor is a 21 year old returned missionary who lives here in Kaysville. His mom is there to help during the classes. The lessons are in their backyard pool. Beauty and the Beast

I took Kera to see the play Beauty and the Beast at our local high school yesterday. I wasn't sure what the play would be like, but I knew Kera would love seeing Belle all dressed up. It was put on by the city of Kaysville, and I was very impressed. The actors did a great job, especially Belle. It looked very professional. One of the families in our ward were in the play. The whole family, mom, dad, sister and two brothers. The dad had the role as the bad guy who tries to lock up Belle's dad, Maurice. He was funny to watch. This was Kera's first play, and though it was a little long (almost 3 hours with an intermission), she did pretty well. She said she wanted to go home a few times, but she loved seeing Belle in the yellow princess dress. After the play she got to go meet Belle and she gave her a big hug. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera, but I took this picture of her when we got home. She wore her Princess Aurora dress to the play. That was a must!

Kaysville 4th of July Parade

I wanted to get some more pictures of the kids at the parade, but they weren't cooperating, so Dave took one of me instead.


Here is a picture of Kera getting some water from the spray bottle we took to the parade. She had gotten some sunblock in her eyes, and her they were stinging and watering the whole time. She did manage to get some candy during the parade though.

The kids did cooperate later and let me get a good picture of them at G&G Andrus BBQ.

And of course they had to do a silly one.

I love this picture of the kids with Grandma & Grandpa Adams. We will all miss them when they leave on their mission in September!

Father and Son Campout

Two weekends ago Dave took Jacob camping for their own father and son campout. Last year our stake put one together that they went to, but this year they decided not to do one. Dave still wanted to take Jacob camping, so they packed up and went to Farmington Canyon to camp overnight. They had a lot of fun together. The fun part for me was watching them both get excited for their camping trip. The week before they made a list of all the things they needed to bring, and all week Jacob was asking me if I had gotten the certain food items at the store. It needed to be exactly what was on their list. He had some games set aside for the trip, and he made sure that nobody touched them because they were for the campout.
Kera was a little sad that she couldn't go camping with them, but that friday night I took her bowling. It was her first time trying to bowl, and once we got the ramp set up (for those who have bowled with kids know this is an essential tool), she was doing great. I didn't know about the ramp until about the 7th frame, so it was a pretty long game. A couple times the ball would stop in the middle of the lane, and the worker had to come retrieve it for us. But Kera had a great time. Halfway through the place got dark and they turned on the music. Is that called "galaxy bowling" or something? Kera really liked that part. She danced right along to the music. After bowling I took her to a restaurant for dinner. We also rented "27 dresses"and Kera watched it with me for about 10 minutes until she fell asleep.
So the weekend was a fun one. It's nice to spend some one on one time with our kids.

Happy Fathers Day!!
I want to take a minute here on my blog to say how thankful I am to the wonderful fathers in my life. The first being my own father who I was lucky enough to have raise me and to show me what a true father is. Someone who is selfless and one of the most generous men I know. He treats my mom like a queen, and has always been known by everyone as "Mr. Fix-It". He really can fix just about anything. Growing up I always felt special and loved. I know that it is by his love and great example that I can be the woman, wife and mother that I am today. Thank you dad for being such a great father, and now such a great grandpa to my kids. They love him and think he is just the greatest guy, which he is.
I also want to give my own great husband a tribute this father's day because he is also such a wonderful father to our two (soon to be three) children. He is so supportive of the things I do, and he teaches our children important values and life lessons that they so desperately need to know. He works very hard to provide for and take care of our family so that I can focus on being at home with our kids. I love how he is always thinking about ways he can be a better dad and he tries everyday to show the kids that he loves them. I am very thankful that I have him in my life, and I am glad that he is the wonderful man that he is. Happy fathers day to both of these special dads. And a happy father's day to all of you dads out there! The world would not be the same without fathers.

Miss Unibrow

Since the last few posts have been about Jacob, I thought I'd post this funny picture of Kera. Before our trip to Ca, Dave's sister Carrie came to stay with us while she was recovering from surgery. While I was gone to take Jacob to his kindergarten testing, Kera was upstairs "taking a nap" on my bed, or so she pretended to be doing when Carrie went to check on her. I minute later, she decided to go through my make-up bag and of course she found my waterproof mascara to play with. This is where she thought it should go on her face.

With quite a bit of scrubbing and makeup remover, it finally came off. But not before I got a picture and a big laugh out of it. At least it wasn't the scissors this time!
